Watching TV
Sitting and watching TV is an activity rather than an exercise. Watching TV helps in burning a little more energy than simply sitting or sleeping as the brain burns carbohydrates during its activity in seeing or reading what is written on the screen. Housework activity
Carrying out household work like dusting or washing may also burn calories but very slowly and thus will not help in losing weight fast. Walking
Walking is one of the best ways of losing weight. This helps in burning fat up to 55%. Walking at a fast speed also helps in burning large amount of calories. We must keep a balance between the total calories burned and the percentage of fat burned while selecting an exercise for losing weight.
Running
Running helps in burning 80% carbohydrates and only 20% fat. It burns calories at a fast pace and people who do fast running are generally slim and trim but not fit because by burning carbohydrates at a fast pace, we increase the appetite. If you are a trained runner, then it helps in burning fat by utilizing oxygen better.
Sprinting or weight training
We can do this exercise only by burning carbohydrates in the body and using the energy to perform this activity. During sprinting or weight program, we burn a lot of calories but this exercise can be done only for a short period of time as it leads to muscle fatigue and uses a lot of energy to perform this exercise. We need to rest in between because it makes us very tired while performing this exercise as it uses a lot of energy so the total amount of calories burnt reduces. Some other aerobic exercises burn more calories as they are done continuously for a longer period of time, so it is always said to perform exercise lightly and over a longer duration of time.
Heavy exercises are not recommended when we are trying to lose weight fast as they can't be performed continuously for longer durations so exercises that can be done on a regular basis for a longer period of time always give better results.
